Mount Sion Secondary School, Waterford
The 4th of July, 2012, will be remembered for a long time by the Mount Sion secondary school community in Waterford. On this special summer day, people young and old, from near and far came together to work on a unique event called the “Mount Sion Makeover”. With a little help from the Dulux Let’s Colour Project over 80 volunteers helped to paint fourteen classrooms, paint a mural and transform the school grounds, all in one amazing day.
The project began as a simple idea by Ms. Colette Kearney to redecorate the school and to involve the school community in the completion of the work. Little did she realise how that idea would blossom to something truly memorable. The response from the Mount Sion community was really remarkable in its generosity of spirit and commitment.
“This makeover has surpassed all my expectations” said Colette Kearney, “Today has shown that anything is possible and that small ideas can blossom when people come together to help each other. There has been no cost burden on our pupils parents, yet the whole school has been transformed.”
