Ballymun Womens Resource Centre, Dublin
Ballymun Womens Resource Centre were one truly inspiring benefiters from the Dulux Let’s Colour Project in 2012. The centre provides support for young women residing in the Ballymun area and aims to empower young women to make informed life choices and the most of their opportunities. The centre works developmentally with the women and families to reduce the incidence of unplanned pregnancy, sexually transmitted infections, relationship violence, early school leaving and unemployment.
The Let’s Colour Project helped the Ballymun Womens Resource Centre to activate the senses, lighten the mood and strengthen the emotional status of vulnerable people who the services and attend the programmes within the centre through the use of colour.
“There has been such a positive response from staff, visitors and regular programme & service users here in the Centre in relation to the painting of all the work and community areas within the building. The overall physical appearance of the building has been enhanced. It now has an elegant stylish and pleasant interior in which to offer childcare, citizens information, youth and adult education services to the community. The colours purple and green represent women, are associated with International Women’s Day and are believed to inspire courage and strength. We have received feedback from local women that they feel the building gives a lively, friendly, warm and energetic atmosphere which helps them to feel welcome and comfortable as they engage with BWRC development opportunities.”
