St. Fergals National School, Killeagh, Cork
The Dulux Let’s Colour Project at St.Fergals National School is a great example of how clever use of colour can transform a dull exterior into something truly vibrant and welcoming. As with many schools up and down the country, St.Fergals was painted in dull and uninviting colours and didn’t represent the bright cheery attitudes of the school staff and pupils.
Elaine Martin from St.Fergals National School remarks “We’re very proud of our school, but the exterior does not reflect the vibrant and positive attitude within. Our school is on the main Cork to Waterford road, and we’d like everyone who passes by to say, ‘Wow, that school looks fantastic”, because it is fantastic. The pupils and staff deserve a school as lively and warm as they are. In a village like Killeagh, the school community is embraced by everyone” The Let’s Colour project has given this school a new lease of life and certainly sets a standard for how a school can be transformed with a little paint and imagination.
